Refuge Trek

2024
The Bus Trek is up and running!  Starting Friday, September 6th the Trek will run every Friday and Saturday through November 23rd.  Two trips each day, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes early so that we can leave PROMPTLY at the designated time.  Tickets are $20 and are nonrefundable.  Please call the Friends group at 757-336-3696 for more information.

Lighthouse Climb

The Lighthouse is open for climbing every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. through Labor Day.  After Labor Day the lighthouse will only be open on Saturdays through Thanksgiving weekend.

CNHA Bookstore

The CNHA Bookstore is open Thursday through Monday 10 AM – 3:45 PM. Bookstore may be open during certain holiday weeks, please call (757) 336-3696 for information.

Directions: Route US-13 runs north/south along the Eastern Shore. Take 13 to route VA-175 east. Follow 175 for approximately 10 miles onto Chincoteague Island, continue straight across the island to Assateauge Island where you will find Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

(Yes, it’s confusing. Google Maps or Mapquest will route you across Chincoteague Island to our location on Assateague Island Virgina – not to be confused with Assateague Island Maryland)
