The Bus Trek officially began it’s season on August 3, 2024. We are midway through the season and are excited to welcome lots of visitors. We are doing two trips a day on designated dates. So…if you are looking for fun, come out and join us for a great adventure!
Beginning September 6th and 7th the trek bus will run on Friday and Saturdays through November 23rd. Two trips per day 10:30 am & 1:30 pm. The bus will leave PROMOTLY at the listed times. We will not be able to wait. Plan on arriving at 10:15 am for the 10:30 am trip and 1:15 pm for the 1:30 pm trip in order for the driver to get the bus loaded and begin your journey.
Tickets can be purchased in the Bateman Visitor Center from the CNHA Nature Store. Tickets are $20 per person and are NONREFUNDABLE. We have seating for 14 passengers, two of which can be for wheelchairs. Wheelchair locks will allow us to accommodate your personal wheelchair. If your child is required to be in a child safety seat in your vehicle, they will be required to be in a child safety seat on the bus. Since it is a state mandate, we will be following the regulations from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Child safety seats are not provided. Sorry, no children on laps. A ticket is required for everyone on the bus, including children.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS
- Navigation: map, compass, altimeter, GPS device, personal locator beacon (PLB) or satellite messenger
- Headlamp: plus extra batteries
- Sun protection: sunglasses, sun-protective clothes and sunscreen
- First aid including foot care and insect repellent (as needed)
- Knife plus a gear repair kit
- Fire matches, lighter, tinder and/or stove
- Shelter carried at all times (can be a light emergency bivy)
- Extra food Beyond the minimum expectation
