The Refuge Trek is owned and operated by Friends of Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The Friends are excited to resume the Refuge Trek this season. The Refuge Trek was paused last season due to road construction for the new beach relocation. While construction continues, a modified schedule will allow the Trek journeys to begin once again. The Trek will begin operation on Saturdays and one Sunday, May 2nd through May 31st. We offer two treks per day day, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Treks are one and a half hours. Tickets are $20 each and are non-refundable. With continued construction on the road tickets can only be available for purchase one week in advance, begining on the Monday before the trek. Hiking doesn’t require a ton of high-tech equipment, which is one of its many benefits. You are prepared to enter the woods if you have a few necessary goods for the trek and a feeling of adventure.
